Today's treasure: Game of Thrones, freedom of expression. I basically only care about two things lately aside from the glorified Dorian Gray fanfic, but I'm keeping that close.

Today's to-dos: Saturday! Clean the damn house top to bottom. Organize my damn temporary tattoo collection, which has been spread out all over my office floor for a week. Harvest & water. Give girlcat a break from the cone collar and a neck massage (her bro finally lost his patience with her routine pouncing and bit her last week; she's getting better). Self-manipedi. Catch up on this DW inbox which finally has stuff in it. Downtown drink date if I don't waste my afternoon.

Game of Thrones

Consider everything a potential spoiler for up to S7E4.

It's a day before the next ep so all the good stuff has already been done. I'm just sitting here grasping at shitposts.

Has Littlefinger become underused?
The macro makes a good point. But others have made another: that Littlefinger is out of his element. It's not that the writers don't know how to make him schemey, it's that LF himself has already snuffed out the easily manipulated characters and the rest can smell him. The way Ned was lost and powerless among degenerates in S1, LF is now lost and powerless among honorables in S7. Or maybe he isn't lost and he'll trick Brienne into slaughtering her charges or something. Who knows. Not me, I have no idea. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

'Crow and White Ghost' by digital artist G-host Lee
S/he's done a lovely Daenerys too. There's something about the style, the wispiness; something delicate in it. You can just tell that the artist is Chinese.

Freedom of Expression

Theryn Meyer on the Google Manifesto
Solid.

'Raising an Eyebrow,' from Count Dankula
Quick history: Count Dankula is the guy charged with a hate crime in the UK for making a Nazi joke with his ghettofriend's pug, Buddha. I don't know whether John Cleese or other Pythoners have offered a public objection to this man being persecuted for joking about Nazis, but I sort of have, for whatever that's worth.
This 'eyebrow' vid is different from his usual, serious, summarizes his sane political positions, and describes the trouble we're facing in the realm of free expression. Insightful and concise. He doesn't really want to be anything more than a comedian. We clearly need him, not just because he's funny.

"Treasure hunting" is such an evocative, apt phrase... Replies soon to your not-haiku :) It was very much appreciated.

I wrote something in the same vein once about what sticks in the mind's net when we're trawling through memories or sifting through new data. What do we keep, what gets stuck, what do we take away?

"Sometimes I think writers are archaeologists. Sometimes I think we're reporters. It's probably a little of both. We save our scraps and pieces of life. Sometimes, what we bring you lived a long time ago. Sometimes, what we bring is something new, fashioned from the ragbag of experience."

Okay, I thought that was apropos, but I'm so tired, I'm getting sleep deprivation, and substituting old quotations for original content. Back to lie on the bed and pretend to dream.
